Dear Travel Friends,
It is with pleasure we present this Grand Tour of Jordan, where we’ll span the intricate time line of history, dating back to time of Moses, through the centuries, to today’s Hashemite Kingdom, so gracefully led by King Abdullah and Queen Rania. Too often a cursory look to Jordan means a stop in the modern capital of Amman with a quick trip to Petra. We are offering so much more on this exciting and carefully organized tour. Of course , we’ll see the legendary Nabataean city nestled in the pink cliffs of Petra, but we’ll travel south all the way to the Red Sea port of Aqaba, and north beyond the well-preserved Roman site of Jerash. We’ll explore desert castles on ancient trade routes and venture into legendary Wadi Rum. Remember the film “Lawrence of Arabia”, and how enthralled T.E. Lawrence was with the desert? We’ll capture that feeling too in comparative comfort of our 4-wheel drive vehicles and partake of dinner at a bedouin camp.
Dr. Lucille Harrigan began the dialogue with Jordanian counterparts that culminated in the 2006 tour. She continues to be an inspiration for this trip. Her circle of Jordanian friends will add an element of understanding as we have the unique opportunity to meet with women leaders in roundtable discussions and informal visits. Another element of this wonderful trip is the visits we’ll make to the handicrafts centers as guests of the Noor al Hussein Foundation, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the projects and perhaps purchase a piece or two to grace your home and remind you of this remarkable journey in years to come. Please join us.
