October 10 - 16, 2010
7 Days • $2430 from Boston, BOS or $2510 from Seattle, SEA

| Dear World Travelers,
A great stride has been made in the past year as our country re-examines diplomacy and restores its responsible place in the world community under the leadership of President Obama and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. To celebrate that direction we are incorporating into our Iceland program aspects of the October 1986 Summit between former General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev of the former Soviet Union and the former President of the United States of America Ronald Reagan and the ensuing Arms Treaty.
We have a great resource to share with you: our outstanding guide and diplomat, Fridrik Brekkan who had the honor of taking part as the press and information specialist at the U.S. Information Center and translator during this historic meeting.
There is a possibility that a new arms reduction treaty will be signed this year, and you can see the potential place where the signing will take place- at the Hofdi House reception building of the Reykjavik City, League of Women Voters members will appreciate the non-partisan political aspect of the tour. You will get much, much more than you bargain for with this itinerary. The “usual” itineraries are so basic.... but of course we are dealing with you, the SERIOUS traveler, right?
Remember when we told you, “Give us a week, we’ll give you the world”? Here’s a short exciting trip to the Top-of-the-World. It has all the wonderful appeal our longer tours offer: a small group of no more than fifteen and Iceland’s top guide, Fridrik Brekkan. Travel with us in elegant style and unpack only once! Our home for the entire stay is the Hotel Saga.
You can fly to Iceland from either Boston or Seattle. On the day of arrival we’ll have a Viking-themed breakfast and check in to our hotel for a rest. In the late afternoon we’ll travel five minutes boat trip from the harbor to the island of VIDEY, where there is the enormous 60,000-watt light called IMAGINE PEACE TOWER in honor of John Lennon.
Discover Iceland, where the fresh air and clean water are exhilarating. This trip will delight all nature lovers too. The name is deceiving, as Iceland is green while Greenland is icy! Explore the Golden circle including Thingvellir, Gullfoss and the Great Geyser. A day tour to Borgarfjördur area with its unconventional combination of impressive nature, its Icelandic Settlement and Saga-History.
Whether it is your first trip or a return trip, this trip to Iceland will expand your vistas and thrill your senses.
